ok, I added "https://invitation.codes/ Silo for finding and sharing invitation referral links" to the "See Also" section of /referral_link https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=79865&oldid=79863
#
aaronpk
heh that site almost definitely is against the terms of service of many affiliate programs
#
barnaby
what is bandcamp?
#
Loqi
Bandcamp is a silo for artists and musicians to promote their music, including streaming and customizable pricing for purchasing music https://indieweb.org/Bandcamp

It looks like we don't have a page for "resonate.is" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "resonate.is is ____", a sentence describing the term)

what is Resonate?

It looks like we don't have a page for "Resonate" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "Resonate is ____", a sentence describing the term)

Resonate is a co-op music streaming service with a “stream-to-own” pricing model https://resonate.is/

^ just learned about this, looks like a really cool platform and model for indie artists distributing music online, which could become even more relevant with today’s bandcamp news
#
barnaby
and someone involved in the project let me know that despite what some old blog posts say, the current model doesn’t make any use of blockchain/crypto etc
#
aaronpk
wait, they rolled back their blockchain marketing?
#
barnaby
yep. apparently v1 of resonate went all-in on blockchain stuff, then it all collapsed in 2018, and someone came along and re-organised it into a regular worker’s co-op
#
barnaby
“There’s effectively nothing blockchain about the platform anymore, it’s good old centralized data infrastructure, and the core revolutionarry aspect of the platform, even way more so than Stream 2 Own in my opinion, is that it’s a workers coop, and that’s what consumes most of our time. We also have connexions with the folks at ampled which is another coop people should go support.”

oops... I should have done some of those edits more incrementally to have them bubble to the top of the edits lists for the newsletter... oh well, there's a new page at least. Slowly moving toward splitting that commonplace book page up a bit...

[chrisaldrich] interesting re: zettelkasten. sounds a bit like a physical "card file" ?
#
[tantek]
reading through it, it sounded a lot like the physical predecessor to HyperCard
#
[chrisaldrich]
Yes almost exactly that tantek
#
[chrisaldrich]
The book Paper Machines looks at the history of index card based notes and ties them into the history of computer science.
#
[tantek]
That looks like way too tempting a rabbithole for me 😬
#
[tantek]
would be cooler if the book was offered in a deck of index cards format 😄
