like the biggest problem is that mastodon is twitter but open source, so you have all of the same problems twitter has, but with the bonuses of everything being split across a billion unstable shards each with their own unique quirks/features/bugs

My experience with mastodon was that it didn't really have a smaller community feel which IMO would have been one of the few redeeming features for me.
#
[KevinMarks]
You can have that with a specific instance

Yeah, I guess if you have a certain level of activity on that instance and an instance level feed.

There's also probably some network effect issues at play in my experience.

↩️ Or you could use http://openlibrary.org which already has a UI and API for this and doesn't involve lots of spurious currency https://openlibrary.org/help/faq/reading-log and embed that in your indieweb sites

↩️ Definitely an option, and what some folks from the indieweb popup on personal libraries are leaning toward.

Kevinmarks is there any reason you don't have HTTPS on your site?

I have a bunch of subdomains that I serve from different places, so it would be fiddly

Manton has a book that's available online and as print at https://book.micro.blog/. Been reading https://book.micro.blog/interview-tantek-aaron/ and noticing a lot of things that are cyclic when it comes to the IndieWeb space. I need to finish the mockup but my use-case for rsvp markup was mainly to show in a /reader

mf2 isn't strictly needed there

but I do want to allow for preview pages to have MF2+HTML and marking it up there is where I got a little confuddled

something like http://lwa.tf/view?url=https://events.indieweb.org/2022/04/homebrew-website-club-pacific-Ohvjpl4IueP9 (not a real link) but when it's rendering a /rsvp, how to mark up the underlying h-event such that sub-RSVPs in the event would be picked up from a MF2 parser
