[tantek] apparently "vaporwave" did derive from (supposedly was a pun for) "vaporware" [schmarty], according to Wikipedia/vaprowave which cites a book on the subject: https://books.google.com/books?id=uC0lDwAAQBAJ&pg=PA79#v=onepage&q&f=false (which even that page is a fascinating read and very tied to social web / indieweb)
