[tantek]4 use-case: citing a specific indieweb.org wiki page in code comments while taking up as few characters as possible because you want to do the ~70chars per line thing

[tantek]4 it's a convenient way to turn an IndieWeb jargon term in documentation / comments into linked citation of that term by prefixing it with said short domain
#
[tantek]4 having the short domain be *shorter* than the actual jargon term being documented means the term takes up more of the URL length and appears as the dominant component more than the domain
#
[tantek]4 so that helps readability as compared to prefixing a (often short) jargon term with the full indieweb.org/
