#[Jo]I like the idea of a personal dictionary. I always fear I'm too technical for some of my friends who don't care about that stuff but don't want to annoy those who already know what i'm talking about either.

#capjamesg[Jo] I'd love to see more personal dictionaries!
#[tantek]Did we figure out the difference between a personal dictionary & glossary?
#[campegg][tantek] Personally, I see a dictionary as a general collection of words and their meanings, while a glossary is a much more specific set of words and definitionsโi.e. a dictionary defines all of the words in a language, while a glossary is topic -specific and defines jargon, terms of art. etc related to that topic
#[campegg]So for personal use, I think a glossary is probably the more appropriate; we are probably not going to provide definitions for all of the words we us in our native language, but providing definitions of our personal idioms is something I can see happening
#[tantek]I like that distinction [campegg] and it makes sense to me
#[campegg]Although now I'm thinking I need to look up "dictionary" in the dictionary to make sure my understanding of the word is accurate ๐
#[tantek]realizing now the personal glossary/dictionary topic is ontopic for #indieweb ๐
#LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "personal style guide" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "personal style guide is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#capjamesgA personal style guide is a document codiying syntaxes and style preferences for communication, usually in written form, that one may publish on their personal website.
#Loqicommunication in the context of the indieweb refers to using your personal website as a starting point and potentially way for people to contact you https://indieweb.org/communication

#[tantek]see previous conversation (I think I HWC?) about using indieweb-* as names for things about the wiki / community (like what the current /style-guide discusses) to make room for a "plain name" page for things that people actually publish. that is, /style-guide should be the page for a personal style guide, instead of a separate new page
#[tantek]pretty sure you were there capjamesg, last week right?
#gRegorMakes sense. I'm wondering more about the distinction between a design style guide and a text communication preference style guide. Maybe they could be on one page, just different categories of style guides.
#LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "communication protocol" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "communication protocol is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#Loqicommunication in the context of the indieweb refers to using your personal website as a starting point and potentially way for people to contact you https://indieweb.org/contact
#[tantek]it's not quite the same gRegor. /contact is for "how to" contact someone, setup a page for being contacted, like the actual action of contacting.
#[tantek]it seems we don't have a page on text communication preferences, which is more about if/when/why you should (not) contact someone and re: which topics
