update on the matrix situation: I was going to setup the new rooms earlier, but the bridge is very broken and is going to be turned off *entirely* in a few hours, with ne clear info on when/if it comes back for portalling
#
sknebel
so we are going to loose matrix for a while and maybe need to consider self-hosting something

An Open Letter to IndieWeb event organizers: what if, after an event, we updated http://events.indieweb.org entries to add the link to the archived notes on the wiki? The link could be in addition to (or could replace!) the etherpad links, which are pretty low-value after the event ends.
#
[schmarty]
It feels like a papercut to follow a notes link on an event page => wait for the etherpad to load and find it empty except for the archived notes link => click on that link (forgetting that etherpad will pop it into a new tab) => stop and go back to close the etherpad tab.
#
[schmarty]
Additionally, if the etherpad for an event were vandalized there would be no direct path from the http://events.indieweb.org event page to the archived notes.

[schmarty] exactly. If you're an event organizer, after you've created the notes archive you should edit the event to point to it, not the etherpad

Thanks in advance, organizers 😉

I did this for a while with HWC SF events but note sure I wrote it up in the "how to" /HWC organizer section

I've tried that with a couple of events, updating the website field. Didn't think to update the etherpad link in the description.

Also https://indieweb.org/Template:Homebrew_Website_Club should be kept up to date. I didn't get a chance to update it for this week's yet

I'm not sure that's the intended use of the website field. I thought the website field was meant for a page actually about the event, beyond archived notes from the event
