Disambiguation note on each perfectly reasonable if there’s different nuance to each!

aaronpk, since Loqi is already fetching a link from chat to get the link preview, could it also send it to the Internet Archive?
#
[tantek]2
Use-case, over time, we could (semi?)automatically link "older" external links in the logs to their Internet Archive versions. Like even say 5 year old logs for example
#
[tantek]2
Because it is possible to automatically generate a dated Internet Archive link if you know the date it was archived
#
aaronpk
i think Loqi is already doing that
#
aaronpk
assuming http://web.archive.org/save/ is still the correct prefix
#
aaronpk
it looks like it's saved but it's not showing up when i search IA
#
aaronpk
ok just some delay

I'm wondering if some sort of "entry" template would help for primarily reverse chronological pages like https://indieweb.org/videos_about_the_indieweb because then people could follow them in their readers and see new items when added

I think I want to include the new event notes pages (whether IWC sessions, HWC, FrESH) as new pages in the gift calendar. Any objections? I think the community certainly benefits by the labor of archiving those notes, and thus it is a gift for all of us!

[Joe_Crawford], [tantek] and [gRegorLove]: I have more pics but didn’t want to overload the page with a full album. I’m guessing the best way to link the rest to the event is to blog out a photo set and then…? Add a link to the event page? Set up webmentions and (waves hands around) they show up somewhere?
#
[Al_Abut]
And how do I “tag” people in that photo set? Back to their blogs I’m guessing?

I've added the photo for EU HWC
#

and have seemingly doubled it.
#
[tantek]2
[Al_Abut] has for previous IndieWebCamps we've setup a separate photos page like https://indieweb.org/2019/Berlin2/Photos for folks to add any and all random photos they took during the event
#
aaronpk
i think it's fine to upload a ton of photos on events.indieweb.org!
#
[tantek]2
Re how to tag people, that's a whole conversation 😂 however see this for recent "how to":
#
[tantek]2
What is person tag
#
Loqi
👤 A person tag (AKA people tag) is a tag on a post that refers to a specific person by URL, and which the post author explicitly adds as a tagging action, beyond just mentioning a person via hyperlink, h-card, or @-name (autocompleted or not) https://indieweb.org/person-tag
#
aaronpk
if the page starts getting overwhelmed i can always change the layout of the photos on the page
#
[tantek]2
aaronpk unless the newsletter refrains from putting ALL the photos from an event I would say no
#
aaronpk
the newsletter caps it already
#
aaronpk
i believe the algorithm it uses was your suggestion even
#
[tantek]2
Is that in the docs? Because dumping a giant photo album on people via email is a good way to get people to unsubscribe I would expect
#
[tantek]2
I thought we uncorked the photo limits once we stopped syndicating to Twitter
#
aaronpk
maybe i am thinking of the code that chooses which photos went to twitter
#
[tantek]2
But yes agreed the event photo uploading UI is MUCH better, friendlier, easier, and frankly more likely to encourage alt text
#
[tantek]2
I vaguely recall we didn't put any limits on the number of photos going to the newsletter because the format does not have any specific intrinsic limits
#
[tantek]2
[marksuth] I got it, de-duped the HWC EU photos
