#doesnmDiscord bridge has two types of nicknames: with [d] postfix and from user IWDiscord. Question: what the difference?
#aaronpkthe IRC network has a limit of how many nicks can join from a single IP address. the discord gateway joins as many as it can directly, then when it hits the limit, it starts routing all the messages through the single IWDiscord user
#doesnmmaybe hosting dedicated irc server for that purpose where you can specify your limit?
#aaronpktechnically that would work, but I don't really want to tell all the people who join via IRC to have to connect to a special server. I would estimate we'd lose about 80% of people that way
#GWGAlso another maintenance item for the community.

#[Joe_Crawford]It was a great conversation. I found being able to point at your search engine post very helpful capjamesg++

#[Joe_Crawford]I was disappointed to see that DDG seems like it used to have a page describing how one could use their search for a static site by installing a form but it seems to have gone. Google seems to still offer that. That may be a lab article I work on next, a Google, bing, DuckDuckGo search form generator. Not sure a universal one would work but may be fun to try.

#[tantek][Joe_Crawford] I thought I documented DDG static personal site search form on /search π€
#[Joe_Crawford]The url and query parameters are far less likely to change. But whether DDG encourages people to use html from DG to use them for site-specific search, has.
#[tantek][Joe_Crawford] also their site-specific results have been getting worse (more sparse, less thorough) so maybe that's also a hint.
#[tantek]Or they got too many complaints about their site specific search being poor so they just removed the docs to discourage any further use

#[Joe_Crawford]Iβm the search vein, I watched a video on an old SGI Indigo and the creator used http://frogfind.com to search the web. Itβs DDG under the hood, stripped down HTML and no HTTPS. A reminder of the malleability of the web.
