[tantek]I don't think we have any guidance in our /discuss page about avoiding unsolicited direct messages to people you don't know, and perhaps we should. Feels "off" when people do it, and unfortunately there's a set of folks that either don't have the social clues to not do it, or they do it as a form of "cold call" marketing.
