#
gRegor
what is wiki customization
#
Loqi
MediaWiki customizations are changes to the default install of MediaWiki that the IndieWeb community has made for various reasons to better serve how the community uses the wiki https://indieweb.org/wiki_customization
#
gRegor
Hm, not sure why the regex didn't work with the h-app page. Thought it might be the dash, but tried it on regexr.com and it matches hyphens. https://github.com/aaronpk/mediawiki-mf2-dfn/blob/master/dfn.php
#
gRegor
Heh, the first condition is that "p-summary" does not appear in the text *anywhere*, not just as a class name
#
gRegor
And "p-summary" is on that page further down.
#
gRegor
Since it's just parsing the text and not HTML nodes, changing it to `preg_match('/class="p-summary"/', $text)` would avoid most instances of that. Obviously some edge cases if there's multiple classes, but seems pretty unlikely on the wiki.

[tantek]
event page formatting question. on a page like https://indieweb.org/Beyond_Tellerrand where it lists individual years and then inside those, individual cities, should the years be ascending/descending and inside the years should the individual cities/instances be by time order or reverse time order? Make sense?
#
gRegor
I like newest first for both
#
aaronpk
do we have any instances of p-summary class with other classes as well? this would break that
#
gRegor
Let me add some `.?` so it will match anywhere in the list of classes
#
gRegor
Hm, not exactly the regex, but I'll work on it. Need to account for spaces
#
aaronpk
I don't know if that's actually a concern
#
gRegor
I think it would be pretty rare
#
aaronpk
wait there's one: https://indieweb.org/2012/Guest_List but we could edit that
#
aaronpk
this one is missing the quotes https://indieweb.org/like
#
aaronparecki.com
edited /like (+2) "add quotes around p-summary class"
(view diff)
#
aaronpk
ok there aren't any, no need to change it
#
gRegor
Oh yeah, a lot of the camp pages probably have mf2 with mf1 backcompat
#
aaronpk
i think only that one
#
aaronpk
but yeah it would break the mf1 backcompat, do we care about that?
#
[Al_Abut]
[tantek] we had that same discussion yesterday for the movie club page. Reverse chrono for the years but then regular chrono within each year makes the most readable/scannable sense, as strange as it sounds to describe.
#
gRegor
Oh interesting, the ones I'm thinking of are like /2019, but that's "p-name summary"
#
aaronpk
oh funny
#
aaronpk
so if we edit the 2012 to match then we can merge it
#
gRegor
I can do that. So the edge case here is if it has "p-summary summary" (or similar), it will mistakenly add another "p-summary" around the dfn, right? Not great, but not awful. And the 2012 page doesn't have a dfn anyway.
#
gRegor
What do you think, [tantek]? I'm usually not concerned about publishing both mf2 and mf2 backcompat classes
#
gRegor
*mf1 backcompat
#
aaronpk
oh yeah, it won't do anything if the page doesn't have dfn anyway
#
[tantek]
I can live with dropping the mf1 backcompat from the wiki
#
[tantek]
gRegor [Al_Abut] yeah I initially chose newest first for years then order by earliest first inside each year but while editing it started to feel confusing
#
gRegor
I think that approach makes sense for a calendar of things like IMC (especially monthly). For more intermittent things, idk, I think I lean towards strict reverse chronological.
#
gRegor
Like if I'm browsing a list of IWC sessions, I'm probably more interested in recent ones than the first ones
#
[tantek]
that reasoning makes sense gRegor
#
[tantek]
ok I may flip the /btconf locations within years to be most recent first
#
[tantek]
across years and instances within years

what is naming convention
#
Loqi
A naming convention is an explicit pattern or theme used for naming a set of related and or complementary projects, like the p3k naming convention, focusing on things from a particular theme or names that reflect function, or a hybrid of the two https://indieweb.org/naming_convention
#
gRegor
I don't know if he's posted about it on his site, but benji mentioned his naming convention is How I Met Your Mother related, inspired by [schmarty]'s Saved by the Bell convention
