[tantek]> IndieWebCamp Berlin 2025 is a two-day all-levels gathering and community workshop for personal websites and owning your identity, content, and experience on the web. 10:00-17:00 daily Saturday & Sunday (doors open at 9:00) before Beyond Tellerand Berlin 2025.
[tantek]> The importance of owning your data is gaining more awareness every year – yet it is not enough, in times where social media is scattered and distracting. There is still a lot of work to do to help people understand what “owning your data” actually means. To get started and move our sites forward, we’re meeting for a two-day BarCamp-like collaboration and Hackfest in Berlin.
[artlung]Because the events page can accept webmentions a webmention from the wiki page to the event page would show up. And if we hid the etherpad link some time increment after the event, that would put a link on the event page.
gRegorI am just very thankful we're not manually creating the list of events anymore, and the manual archive pages too, like https://indieweb.org/events/2016
[tantek]maybe we can note somewhere the things to check/update if you clone an event? I think the Black Friday 2025 event was linking to the 2024 wiki page which is why I updated it to a new Etherpad (because the event hasn't happened yet!)
LoqiHomebrew Website Club is a growing world-wide network of meetups for everyone who wants to take back their web experience from social media silos, and own their online identities & content, or just want support with blogging! https://indieweb.org/hwc
[artlung]In terms of how I interact with it when cloning if the pattern is predicable it feels like a script on clone to turn a wiki link into an etherpad link would be nice. Or just something to swap the domain in that field from http://indieweb.org to http://etherpad.indieweb.org. But more generally I'll try to keep an eye out.
LoqiWeird Web October is a 31 day challenge to make a website every day in October according to the theme of the day, inspired by Inktober, and open to anyone to participate by posting about their new sites with the hashtag #weirdweboctober https://indieweb.org/WWO
[artlung]if you can test it that'd be ideal capjamesg. I think it's good but if there's some aspect of how the data flows in I missed I'd hate to have added a bug!
LoqiA challenge on the indieweb can either mean a blogging challenge, a list of questions to answer or a topic to write about in a post, sometimes tagged/invited by others to do so, or an ongoing event-like post which invites people to post achievements towards a goal for a specific time period, like exercise or posting photos at some frequency (daily), also supported by silos like Strava and micro.blog https://indieweb.org/blogging_challenge
[tantek]gRegor, good direction. Maybe keep the existing "30 days" subsection there and leave behind a simple list of months, each linked to the Challenges section of that month?
[tantek](also possible to have a generic 30 days challenge that is not on a month boundary, or even 30 days across a longer time period like quarter or year)
gRegoroh wait, this isn't gonna do what I was thinking. I was going to use categorytree to list links to the months, but that will be alpha sort not month sort.
gregorlove.comcreated /Category:months (+259) "Created page with "A category for the '''<dfn>month pages</dfn>''' on the wiki. To add a wiki page to this category, first update the Gregorian calendar, then add <nowiki>[[Category:months]]</nowiki> to the wiki page. Aka, you shouldn’t need to add this category to pages. ;)"" (view diff)
LoqiJust generated this week's newsletter! You still have a few minutes to make changes, and I'll re-generate it 10 minutes before it gets sent out at 3pm Pacific time. https://indieweb.org/this-week/2025-10-03.html
