[artlung]
what is journaling?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "journaling" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "journaling is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#
[artlung]
hmmmmmm. if we had a page for that I'd add https://www.journiv.com to it.
#
[artlung]
I am not doing that now. but it seems like a blind spot. unless there's a synonym I'm not thinking of.

I think we have discussed private journaling before
#
[tantek]
what is private post
#
Loqi
private posts refer to posts or portions of posts which are private to either the author or sometimes to a limited audience chosen or previously approved by the author (like close friends), the latter also known as a friends-only or protected post https://indieweb.org/private_post
#
[tantek]
^ maybe stub a "private journaling" subsection there to start to capture?

[artlung]
Oh that's good. Journaling and journal both super overloaded terms but a disambiguation which cross links to live journal and journalism and private posts, maybe diaries too

Meetable feature I've been considering, since we already have a way to RSVP to an event, create a unique ics feed for you so you can add it to your calendar and see all the events you've RSVP'd to
#
aaronpk
and I think it would work just as well with ones you RSVP to via webmention, as long as you log in to the wiki with the same domain as you send the webmention from
#
[aciccarello]
aaronpk, cool idea but personally I wouldn't use it. I prefer to copy those over to my main calendar.
#
[aciccarello]
Mainly because Google Calendar doesn't treat subscribed calendars with the same respect.
#
aaronpk
ah yeah true
#
[aciccarello]
Now if I could get Google to do that automatically when I RSVP'd, that'd be cool 😁
#
[aciccarello]
I doubt they have an API for that so I'd probably just be the normal "add to google cal" link stuff.
#
[aciccarello]
Which isn't much better when I already am subscribed to the IndieWeb calendar

How do you mean the subscribed calendars are different? Inability to update the events?
#
gRegor
Oh looks like you can't set/change notifications for them either
#
[tantek]
subscribed calendars do not impose on your "available" time, so that allows people to schedule things over those sessions

#
aaronpk
yeah, i'm constantly copying events from subscribed calendars into my work google calendar to block the time
#
aaronpk
it's only a couple clicks tho, not too bad
#
[tantek]
not sure why that's not just a [x] mark time as busy in the event you can locally edit from the subscription
#
[tantek]
copying/duplicating the event is a fragile hack. events get moved. details get added like Zoom links
#
[tantek]
oh that's the other thing. Zoom links in subscribed calendars in gCal don't show up via Zoom integration in the Zoom app
#
[tantek]
in general, subscribed calendars are treated kinda second class by gcal
#
aaronpk
oh yeah, now i'm remembering all the weird things i have to do with subscribed calendars

Whoa, somebody added a bunch of much-needed detail to the Astro page. Might be a community manager type, or just a coincidence that it got acquired by Cloudflare this month.
#
[Al_Abut]
Interesting timing personally, now that I'm rethinking my possible migration away from Astro to Eleventy.
