Hi, the moderator (sorry idk his name, he just had Indieweb as his Zoom label and didn't participate in the Etherpad) of the HWC Eastern on 2026-04-08 didn't archive the Etherpad notes. Can someone tell me how to do it? Will be handy to know as I'll be doing it for this week's HWC Eastern. Thanks in advance!
#
[capjamesg]
We have a bot that can help you with this burgeonlab!
#
[capjamesg]
!archive help
#
iwc-archive-bot
Usage: !archive <event page URL>
#
[capjamesg]
You can use that command to archive an Etherpad ^
#
[capjamesg]
You should provide the event page URL (i.e. https://events.indieweb.org/2026/04/homebrew-website-club-eastern-iuAjFlLfe9YQ) rather than the Etherpad URL. The bot will automatically retrieve all the event information and the Etherpad and create a wiki page for you.
#
[capjamesg]
After the page is created, I recommend checking the new page to make sure all the formatting is correct.
#
Loqi
yea!
#
[capjamesg]
Once the page looks good, replace the contents of the Etherpad with “Archived to <https://e|https://>http://indieweb.org/wiki-page-you-archived-to”
#
burgeonlab
That's really useful. Thanks a lot [capjamesg]++

I hope you have fun hosting HWC Eastern!
#
burgeonlab
My first time! Hope it goes alright. GWG is helping with the technical zoom bits.
#
[tantek]
capjamesg, all good except by only editing the page it won't show up in the newsletter as a new page
#
[tantek]
If you like, you can copy the contents, select the page, and recreate it so it shows up as “new” because it really is new
#
[tantek]
That way the newsletter will list it as a new page for the week
#
[capjamesg]
/new is really new in more than one sense of the word 😄
#
[capjamesg]
I’ll make that change.
#
[tantek]
It's a little extra work but worth it IMO when we replace a redirect page with actual content

what is new
#
Loqi
new is a page for creating a new resource like a post or a page on your personal website, and also a page that links to URLs to create new resources https://indieweb.org/new

[aaronpk] I know it's not a new topic, but what's your current thinking on topicality on IndieNews? ie requiring that posts are on topic? seems like it's degraded a bit over the past...6-12 mos?
#
[snarfed]
obviously not an easy problem to solve, the only two thoughts I have are human moderation and AI, neither of which is ideal, but...?

what is indienews
#
Loqi
IndieNews is an indieweb-specific news aggregator which only accepts submissions via webmention, and is for syndicating posts relevant to the indieweb https://indieweb.org/IndieNews
#
[tantek]
[snarfed] WDYT of the thoughts there ^ ? Want to add your opinion(s) in a Brainstorming subsection on the page?
