What is websiting?

Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "websiting" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "websiting is ____", a sentence describing the term)

since you're in a housekeeping mode aaronpk, have you come across https://wiki.oauth.net yet? (since it looks like you maintain http://oauth.net) and have you considered how to export from the archived PBWorks wiki there to something simpler/cleaner for historical purposes?
#
[tantek]
All pages can be redirected to top level / PAGENAME pages which works currently AFAIK. E.g. redirect the long PBWorks URL to the short URL. Like https://wiki.oauth.net/w/page/12238502/AccessorSecret could redirect to https://wiki.oauth.net/AccessorSecret (which works currently).

aaronpk
i turned it into a static site years ago!
#
[tantek]
haha ok that's why the plain / PAGENAME pages work
#
aaronpk
and that's why the sidebar thingy is broken, because that was all dynamic
#
[tantek]
so if I find plain / PAGENAME 404s I should report them?
#
aaronpk
sure! i guess i can push this to github so you can file issues there
#
aaronpk
spiderpig did the initial crawl of the pbworks wiki. looks like that was 8 years ago 😂
#
[tantek]
what's funny is that the oauth pbworks was still in my "reactivate" list of links I do every 6 months or so, e.g. https://oauth.pbworks.com/w/reactivate still works 😂
#
[tantek]
also how did you get https://oauth.pbworks.com/ to redirect to https://wiki.oauth.net/w/page/12238516/FrontPage ?!? because that's something we need to document on /PBWorks for folks who want to migrate! (like me 🥹 )

also why does it redirect to that long URL rather than https://wiki.oauth.net/ ?

^^ this preview is cracking me up
#
aaronpk
oh i didn't even know about the pbworks URL
#
aaronpk
it had a custom domain served by pbworks for a long time, so they presumably redirect to the custom domain version
#
aaronpk
so i guess as long as that's active, it will keep redirecting
#

[tantek]: here you go. Feb 2018! https://github.com/aaronpk/wiki.oauth.net

that's amazing. and probably legacy (custom domain redirect). I assume you're not paying them for that? maybe it was an initial setup payment thing?
#
[tantek]
custom domain << Past example: [[PBWorks]], which at some point supported setting a custom domain, including redirecting from a subdomain on PBWorks to its custom domain. Unknown if it required a one-time payment, or annual payment for sometime. No payment seems required for the redirects to keep working, e.g. https://oauth.pbworks.com/ redirects to https://wiki.oauth.net/w/page/12238516/FrontPage

ok, I added "Past example: [[PBWorks]], which at some point supported setting a custom domain, including redirecting from a subdomain on PBWorks to its custom domain. aaronpk++ nice. will dig into the GitHub and fix a few top-level 404s with PRs that mimic the code from spiderpig.
