[http://twitter.com/fletchy] @ewanr Yes, hReview compliant and it can run server side or client side.

Has anyone done any side-by-side comparisons of microformat mark-up against the schema-org equivalents anywhere? I have some, but not sure if there's prior art to reference for accuracy.

Phae - I don't think anyone's published any
#
tantek
I do know that the schemaorg markup tends to be much lengthier since it does involve a bunch of additional attributes
#
tantek
(not unlike RDFa in that regard)
#
tantek
the irony is that microformats-2 markup is actually *smaller* in common cases (than even current microformats markup)
#
tantek
so anyone complaining about code bloat should be all over using microformats-2 in preference to alternatives

#
Phae
it's okay
#
Phae
and yes, it is lengthy
#
tantek
Phae, would dl/dt/dd be more appropriate for the Telephone: … Email: portion of the markup?
#
Phae
oh, i guess so.
#
tantek
also, lol at repeating the class=hcard vs vcard common err (which is why we're fixing this in microformats-2)
#
Phae
i keep forgetting that dl is allowed to be something useful these days
#
tantek
should we just formalize allowing "hcard" as the root class name? if we ourselves make this mistake...
#
Phae
oh. sorry. uggggh.
#
tantek
for hCard 1.1 that is
#
Phae
i knew i'd typo stuff
#
tantek
no not your fault - it's a *common* error
#
Phae
i think maybe so
#
Phae
yeah
#
tantek
I think many permissive parsers allow it
#
tantek
I just thought it was ironic
#
Phae
corrects.
#
tantek
btw in terms of microdata FAQ
#
tantek
itemscope is how microdata indicates "this is a root element/object"
#
tantek
as opposed to a list of specific microformats root class names in microformats 1
#
tantek
and as opposed to the simpler/shorter "h-" prefix in microformats-2
#
Phae
yeah, i got that it was for showing root element
#
Phae
but couldn't work out why you needed that, or why you wouldn't prefer something that explicitly says *what* it is.
#
tantek
right - it's not obvious at all from an authoring perspective
#
tantek
unless you're a programmer type person who associate such things with the magic word "scope"
#
Phae
yeah
#
Phae
oh, i get why it's easier from a pro grammatical sense. but they're second class citizens to me.
#
Phae
oh, thanks spellcheck for that space there.
#
tantek
turn that off - it's horrible for IRC
#
tantek
did someone actually recommend a DRY violation as *easier* in your comments?
#
Phae
yeah
#
tantek
because @prefix and rdf and turtle are things web designers are either familiar with or would love to learn about right?
#
tantek
how do people get so out of touch with web designers/authors?
#
Phae
well, by not being one
#
Phae
the cleaners are in the office already. this suggests i should go home now. be back in a while.
#
tantek
ok ttyl
#
csarven
tantek Perhaps not all "web designers/authors" are equal. That's why there are hundred different Web-roles nowadays. I don't think it is fare to generalize every worker to be competent at every frontend-ish-stuff.
