as it's down.
#

[http://twitter.com/doriantaylor] @dret hmm, that doesn't look too hard. To hCard I assume? Couple hours tops. But you're right, I'm surprised there isn't something out there

[http://twitter.com/dret] turns out if xCard2hCard is done, X2V http://t.co/Kbt15Pkn can be used to generate a #vCard from the #hCard encoding of the #xCard ;-)

#
ChiefRA

#
ChiefRA
I read the discussion between you and tantek from here 2 days ago
#
rossputin
no, sorry, I meant have you been coming into IRC for microformats for long ?
#
ChiefRA
mm depends, I came here approx. 1 year and a half for a mf implementation and I remained here
#
rossputin

good morning neuro
#
Loqi
*yawn* it looks cloudy
#
tantek
site is being a bit slow for me (for editing) - anybody else?
#
tantek
neuro - I don't understand what you need from the content of wp-content - specific files? Is it because you are running WP? I thought you were going to create a static mirror for now.
#
neuro`
tantek: to get the CSS, JS and image files. Wget does not get them. Well, I can fetch them manually

rossputin - I've taken a quick look at /sitemap and have a few quick items of feedback
#
tantek
the sitemap-formats link is red (page missing), but right above it, you mention "Existing standards" and link to sitemaps.org - that's exactly what the sitemap-formats page is for! please move that information there.
#
tantek
In the "problem" section - you don't actually describe what problem you're trying to solve.
#
tantek
what you *do* have there (which is useful to keep) is a list of possible use-cases
#
tantek
neuro are you still crawling the microformats.org server and if so, with how many simultaneous connections?

#
tantek
rossputin - finally, on the brainstorming, please use microformats-2 style property names / containment
#
tantek
please take a look at those and iterate and we'll take another look. thanks!
#
rossputin
tantek: thanks for the feedback! I will go fix things up.
#
tantek
I have some concerns about using class names for data (i.e. values like daily weekly monthly)
#
tantek
normally that kind of information is user-visible on a page, and then we use microformats to put markup around it
#
tantek
but given that they are specific values from the sitemap XML format - I'm not sure I have a good counter-proposal
#
tantek
we should at least note it as an issue.
#
rossputin
tantek: yes agreed I share the concerns, but was trying to keep impact minimal in terms of extra semantic info etc
#
rossputin
hopefully will find a compromise somewhere
#
tantek
it is good to capture different possible solutions on the brainstorming page, and explicitly note any issues with each one
#
tantek
that way we can compare options, and compare advantages/disadvantages
#
tantek
the purpose of the brainstorming page is to explore the solution space - more important than trying to agree on one single solution.
#
rossputin
I will try to come up with an alternative
#
rossputin
thx
#
tantek
it's also good for historical documentation, as the idea is that if someone comes along later and wonders "hey, why didn't they do x?", if we have "x" documented as one of the brainstorm possibilities along with the issues/discussion about it, then people can learn why we did things the way we did
#
tantek
is there anyone here who wrote up the recent xrate page on microformats.org? Artjom Kurapov?
#
rossputin
tantek: yes, and I suppose the history can avoid questions being repeated etc
#
tantek
rossputin - exactly, it helps make things quicker to explain to new folks
#
tantek
(and much better than the eternal cycles that seem to erupt on mailing lists on such subjects)

tantek: not anymore, I have everything that was online as on Friday evening. I'm now fixing the latest bits of the mirror
#

like CSS / JS issues, removing the login links from the pages and so
#
tantek
if you wanted, you could keep the login links back to the original site

tantek: Hi
#
rossputin
I had a go at working through your feedback from earlier
#
rossputin
I think it's ready as a second iteration
#
tantek
rossputin - that's a lot of good improvements
#
tantek
for the problem statement - I think you've got a good core of a problem statement in the paragraph starting with "Currently accurate ..."
#
tantek
the first paragraph "Enable the …" would work well as a summary statement to put at the top, just after the top level heading
#
tantek
if you'd like, I can try some edits, and then you can continue iterating from there
#
rossputin
excellent, thanks
#
rossputin
happy for you to try some edits
#
rossputin
its late over here in the UK, going to finish up for the day
#
rossputin
I will edit and try some different solutions tomorrow
