↩️ FYI: There's a free (open source) news reader (rss, atom, html microformats, json feed, etc.) made in Austria too. (Planet) Pluto! For example, runs the public Open Street Map Blogs (Planet) - http://blogs.openstreetmap.org See http://feedreader.github.io #rss #jsonfeed #pluto #planet

Zegnat
barely keeps himself from tweeting his “Real deal about rel-me” writeup to anyone sharing that link :P
#
KartikPrabhu
Zegnat: maybe you should
#
tantek
citation needed
#
tantek
Zegnat, nah you should consider it
#
Zegnat
There is no end to SEO retweets of that link though.
#
tantek
especially with a more provocative blog post title
#
Zegnat
And I am not even sure Mr Rustybrick read my reply. When I said I couldn’t send a webmention and thus gave him the link on Twitter, his response was (paraphrasing) “you can’t comment on the blog?”
#
tantek
like "Rebuttal: Why not knowing does not mean not recommending"
#
KartikPrabhu
how about "rel-me does not care if Google recommends it"
#
tantek
lol even better
#
Zegnat
We can republish the writing on microformats.org with a juicier title ;)
#
tantek
Zegnat doesn't matter, as long as you show up as the first reply to such tweets
#
tantek
then you look authoritative
#
tantek
Zegnat, go for it, draft a post for microformats.org re: rel=me in 2018 recommended by IndieAuth etc.
#
tantek
you can even make a point of "no evidence either way" re: Google
#
[kevinmarks]
You might be able to find a quote from me from ~2008 when I was working for Google about "this is designed to keep working if Google goes out of business"
#
tantek
Zegnat: and in your @-replies, be sure that your tweet text is ultra polite and inviting
#
Zegnat
The whole fact that I couldn’t find a single source saying rel-me was ever used by Google for authorship is already covered in my post. As is the RelMeAuth and Distributed Verification examples.
#
tantek
(happy to help with microcopy if you like)
#
tantek
Zegnat it was a while ago
#
Zegnat
I just don’t like to use Twitter, even to share the links :P
#
tantek
hmm thought I cited a source on the wiki
#
Zegnat
For rel-me for authorship?
#
Zegnat
goes looking again
#
Zegnat
There is a google citation on rel-me, but it specifically says Google used rel-me the way we intend it: “To tell Google that all these profiles represent the same person, use a rel="me" link to establish a link between profile pages.”
#
[kevinmarks]
Right, but they said to link to Google+ and to add a Google+ link to your site which created a rel-me link
#
vivus
