That is surprisingly clean mf2, agreed, [jgmac1106]!
#
Zegnat
`p-canonical` is a surprising property
#
[tantek]
not part of any vocab AFAIK

I don’t recall seeing it before either.

Also shows that whoever added it didn’t really know mf2 parsing rules (and possibly didn’t test it) as the p- would not pick up the href=""

I don’t even have a Medium account, so not sure if it is worth it for me to reach out to them about it

Dumb idea: Somebody should buy microformats.properties and do something clever with it

I think Ben Werdmuller did the original medium export mf2 markup.

still it reduced the amount of work I needed to do to import, makes sense Ben might have snuch that in when he was there and no one was looking
#
jgmac1106
but if you wanted a count of how prevelant mf are to silence nasayers if you add up all the Mastodon users, all the medium users, then indiemap.org (which I tihink is two years out of date) that is a ton of use cases

@csarven
↩️ Not going to do Q&A over Twitter but happy to point you to stuff for help. EVERYTHING that you may find "useful for something" with microformats, you can achieve that with RDFa (one way of expressing RDF). RDFa is actually built on open consensus and far more flexible/extensible.

↩️ @petermolnar @cscarven Worse, everyone inmetadata ed space was just talking and building vocabularies (bigger and bigger) but nobody did anything. Then I discovered microformats and there was thmassive community aligned to my values that had tools I… https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/2019/02/01/petermolnar-cscarven-worse-everyone-inmetadata-ed

↩️ And then I learned about microformats and I was sold. You mean all this worked and it right in the HTML!! I can hit source code and read people's websites again!!!! Wow did I miss that!!!, so tired of the gobbily gook of frameworksn and hidden data. (https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/s/98Uih)

is there a reason there are two different lists of microformats parsers on the wiki?
#
Loqi
Microformats Parsers
#
aaronpk
created /consumers (+330) "new page listing microformats consumers, mostly just linking to other pages and lists to avoid needing to maintain another list"
(view diff)
#
[tantek]
Aaronpk likely just historical
#
[tantek]
Probably a good opportunity to leave a summary of top known/used parsers in the mf2 page and put a {{main|parsers}} link at the top of that section
#
[tantek]
Maybe link like top three parsers in place and then just summarize a list of other languages.
#
[tantek]
That way it won’t have to be updated (much?)
#
[tantek]
And the main /parsers page can have the latest and greatest details
#
aaronpk
Maybe also push the mf1-only parsers into a legacy section on /parsers
#
[tantek]
A “Historical” section or even their own page
#
[tantek]
Just noticed the [[consumers]] link above from Loqi links to IndieWeb.org/consumers 😂
#
[tantek]
As does the /parsers link :)

Fascinating. Both those links are correct in the chat logs!

They’re only broken when using Slack itself

oops! slack bridge must be hardcoded to indieweb wiki

↩️ Great @mxbck post On Simplicity https://mxb.at/blog/on-simplicity/ via @adactio Additionally: simpler approaches are more inclusive & accessible, e.g. #microformats & #indieweb Fewer abstractions = less to learn before getting started. Simpler = less time cost ... http://tantek.com/t4yo2
