[tantek]
who is maintaining https://mf2py.herokuapp.com/ ? I'm getting Internal Error trying to use it
#
[tantek]
KartikPrabhu++ for maintaining https://kartikprabhu.com/connection/mfparser with latest mf2py!

Unmung.com has latest too I think

[tantek]
couldn't find the mf2 parser there
#
[tantek]
no sorry I just missed it - second h2
#
[tantek]
Kevinmarks unmung is out of date! It is not finding the alt (while KartikPrabhu's did)
#
KartikPrabhu
not sure mine is latest either but it has the alt stuff in it
#
[tantek]
and so far that was the only place I could verify it!
#
KartikPrabhu
[tantek]: I thought microformats.io should have it
#
KartikPrabhu
[tantek]: the mf2py heroku app was tommorris I think
#
KartikPrabhu
but it seems we favoured microformats.io over it
#
[tantek]
it does not
#
[tantek]
the mf io main URL parse field does not do it, nor do any of the specific parseres
#
[tantek]
so perhaps we need a way to auto-update those parsers from the latest in the repos
#
KartikPrabhu
that is maintained by vegastraightedge I think
#
[tantek]
I thought shaners handed it over?
#
[tantek]
or maybe he was trying to share it around to various parser maintainers for the various sub domains?
#
[tantek]
either way, would be good to get it setup with an auto-deploy similar to indiewebify.me and the 2019.indieweb.org sites

Hmm, part of me seems to think we already did auto-deploy on microformats.io … but maybe I am wrong

Does anyone know if there's been any discussions on licensing markup for microformats? I've just started to properly get them integrated with my website, and I'd very much like to be able to describe the licensing of the content in a MF2 way, but can't see anything official around it
#
jamietanna
Found http://microformats.org/wiki/license with some info on it, looks like more investigation / work required
#
Zegnat
That sounds accurate of the current state: more investigation / work required.

There was a really interesting discussion about it at the Berlin IndieWebCamp, but no technical solutions as far as I know

I'm trying to sign up on the microformats wiki but it looks like we're using a version of reCaptcha that has been shut down, it says "Direct site owners to g.co/recaptcha/upgrade"
#
Zegnat
jamietanna[m]: yes, sadly, that is a known issue
#
Zegnat
It has been documented on the todo for the server admin: http://microformats.org/wiki/admin-to-do#wiki_problems
#
jamietanna[m]
Zegnat: good to know, thanks. I'll have to document my research off-wiki for now
#
Zegnat
We of course also encourage documenting stuff on your own website ;) If there is any specific content you’d like to have copied over, or when you feel the wiki should link to what you have written elsewhere, ping us in here
#
Zegnat
Sure someone will be happy to edit the wiki in your stead.

jamietanna[m]
Of course, thanks!

Here is an MVP mockup of webmention badges http://edu307.glitch.me/ and because it uses microformats there are real life consumer cases in the wild already, no speculative tech, and I am working on creating a student/teacher dashboard (https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/s/1Y7RNB)

↩️ It is for this same reason I believe in microformats as my favorite type of metadata. Carrying metadata in the class attribute of any HTML element makes the most logical sense. most resilient and actually (beyond maybe Open Graph) the most… https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/2019/03/20/btopro-it-is-for-this-same-reason
