↩️ So worked further on my @gatsbyjs site. Added JSON-LD microformats, OG tags and handled some further errors while fetching from WordPress. #100DaysOfCode #R1D2 Finally got a blog post in too. https://www.shubho.dev/blog/gatsby-add-no-js-class-in-head #100DaysOfBlogging

"JSON-LD microformats" 😂 I suppose it's inevitable

Heh, I think that was a misunderstanding, they're not using microformats at all. But I still find json-ld easier to implement in the majority of my use cases.
#
[tantek]
grantcodes it's the increasing generic use of the term "microformats" to mean any/all kinds of social media preview / SEO markup embedded in pages
#
[tantek]
I haven't seen any cases with JSON-LD and actual structured (more than one level) data, e.g. an event with properties including location with a nested object venue, or a list of posts)
#
[tantek]
grantcodes, on your site, is this what you're calling JSON-LD? "<script id="server-app-state" type="application/json"> … "
#
[grantcodes]
Nah, I've not actually got any json-ld on this version of my site, since I don't have as much of a use case for it
#
[tantek]
ah got it
#
[grantcodes]
That js you mentioned is used to switch to dynamic js components
#
[grantcodes]
The other example you mentioned, of the nested data I do not know how you would do in json+ld. I don't necessarily think the schema is easy, but popping in a block of json in any cms or template based system I have used has been trivial.
#
[tantek]
nesting always pushes the limits of any such encoding system, that's why I asked about it
#
[tantek]
providing a single page-level summary object is already much "easier" done with meta OG: tags

Iirc JSON-LD doesn't support obvious nesting but wants a sequence to provide order
