[grantcodes] Heh, I think that was a misunderstanding, they're not using microformats at all. But I still find json-ld easier to implement in the majority of my use cases.

[tantek] grantcodes it's the increasing generic use of the term "microformats" to mean any/all kinds of social media preview / SEO markup embedded in pages

[tantek] I haven't seen any cases with JSON-LD and actual structured (more than one level) data, e.g. an event with properties including location with a nested object venue, or a list of posts)

[grantcodes] Nah, I've not actually got any json-ld on this version of my site, since I don't have as much of a use case for it

[grantcodes] The other example you mentioned, of the nested data I do not know how you would do in json+ld. I don't necessarily think the schema is easy, but popping in a block of json in any cms or template based system I have used has been trivial.
