#Loqi[bekopharm] #84 HTML views should support microformats
#bekoI just do not get what tripped the dev and want to prevent this in the future. I'm not a native speaker so I may have triggered something I'm not aware of
#[KevinMarks]hijacking implies terrorism, I think that is what upset mouse-reeve
#bekoI may become to old for this because this is what I'm used to say since usenet days when someone would hijack a topic so I'm really completely mindblown now
#[KevinMarks]there is a challenge with an ActivityPub centric project that the RDF worldview is already implicitly there, so schema seems a more natural fit to contributors
#[KevinMarks]derailing might be a more current way to describe that
#bekok, thanks. I'll ask for forgiveness and update my dict :)
#[KevinMarks]but adding mf2 to the project now may need a PR rather than an issue
#bekoah sure, but RFD is not miroformats so this is not an "opinion". I raised the ticket for awareness when the project was fresh out. There wasn't really much to PR for at all and I'd hate it when this would now never be added because I used the wrong words by accident :-/
#bekoPlume for example has both and is on my radar because of this :)
#[KevinMarks]if we have a consuming use case for mf2 then it makes more sense to add them - so if we can show how adding mf2 makes sense because the user streams are then readable in monocle etc, and compare with how mastodon supports mf2 in the same way there is more of a case. it's the difference between search engine focused metadata and social reader focused data
#bekoHeh, that may be a chicken/egg issue. I mean Jacky suggested some examples already and I'd love to review my books ad something that is… not godreads. For now I do so on occasion on my blog but I have no template for this and frankly it's a mess so there is always a inner hurdle to overcome to write about a book I was reading. Burnt throw 8 books just this month o0
#@arafalov↩️ Rich Snippets, Microformats, Sitelinks, http://schema.org, AMP - in the order of likely cause. But, none of them seem to match "Developers" tag from my quick look. That's why I wonder about caching. But also, check your og:url tag, maybe it is misconfigured (not sure). (twitter.com/_/status/1381980533387853828)

#[tantek][KevinMarks]++ lots already said I agree with. Indeed that was kind of a rude derailing of the issue, so you were right to be upset beko. And then to get tone-policed in response was quite bad too. Did appear like the issue was as you said "rage-closed". The absence of movement on it is a good lesson.
#[tantek]It is worth filing issues/pull requests to add mf2 early to OSS projects, IF there is a consuming code use-case you can point to that is immediately compelling and testable
#[tantek]otherwise it looks like a waste of time / adding complexity to code for no benefit
#[tantek]jacky++ for also contributing positively to that thread
#Loqijacky has 8 karma in this channel over the last year (112 in all channels)
#[tantek]looking back it seemed like there was general support for the issue, and that would have been a good time to add a PR before it was derailed
#[tantek]good to note for next time, momentum definitely matters
#[KevinMarks]given what the user pages look like, h-entry/h-feed support like mastodon would be good, and the use case is following in social readers eg https://bookwyrm.social/user/jlrevilla - you'd need to do it like mastodon did too with tests

#[tantek]I'm not sure we can count "following" as an actual functional today use-case in its current state of brainstorming (we can take this to #indieweb-dev)
