[tantek]It took until a combination of mf2, better processes, and co-evolution with indieweb to also add the requirement of complete publishing + consuming code use-cases (beyond "better search" handwaving), which were focused on user benefits, not web dev benefits
[tantek]There was also a sense of proposing simpler solutions than other approaches to supposedly existing problems. Eg XFN instead of FOAF. rel=license instead of CC RDF markup
[tantek]Then there was the proposal of hCard & hCalendar at FOO Camp more as an experimental exploration than anything else, figuring that it could provide a web-native way to solve the problems that vCard & iCalendar were solving
