#Loqi[preview] [Jason Garber] It looks like Bandcamp added `rel="me"` to artist profile page links! This will allow for verified bidirectional linking between a Mastodon profile and a Bandcamp profile. 🏆My earlier post: https://mastodon.cc/@jgarber/109911651433261500Confirmati...
#[jgarber]☝ Thanks to [KevinMarks] for sharing the m2m post which confirmed the change on Bandcamp’s side. 👏
barnaby, [Joel_Auterson], [jamietanna], [Murray], [benatwork], gRegor, gRegorLove_ and [jacky] joined the channel
#[jacky]Now if itch did that, that'd also put them up here as well
#[jacky](wonders how one would pitch that, could be like "this would help with independent site verification _and_ the open Web since they use it")
#[jgarber]The support message I sent to Bandcamp was semi-technical. I noted their existing HTML on artist pages already had existing `rel` values and that adding the `me` value would support Mastodon’s verification. I included a link to the Mastodon help page on the topic and kinda left it as, “it’d be really nice if…”
#[jgarber]I eventually got a generic-ish response back that said they’d pass it on to their dev team. I kinda forgot about it until I saw the post Kevin shared on Mastodon earlier today. Not exactly sure when Bandcamp rolled it out, but cool to see it live.
[aciccarello] and [KevinMarks] joined the channel
#[KevinMarks]As with 20 years ago, the change is small enough that a dev team will look at it and go 'easy fix' - if they had to add and maintain WebFinger, say, the chances are a lot lower.
#[KevinMarks]should we lobby all the linktree-alikes?
