’Afternoon, all. I’m looking for a way to annotate unsubscription links in (the HTML part of) email. Potentially something as simple as rel="unsubscribe".
#
lluad
I've looked and haven't found any previous work. Anyone know of anything along those lines, or a good place to start?
#
[snarfed]
the standards I know of are headers, not HTML microformats. eg https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc8058

Yeah, there's List-Unsubscribe and RFC 8058 List-Unsubscribe-Post, which cover most automation. But it's not unusual to have unsubscription links in the body that don't go to quite the same places.

It used to be possible to have multiple unsubscription links in the List-Unsubscribe header, with human readable descriptions, but nobody ever supported them, and that's incompatible with RFC 8058 one-click unsubscription, so it's never going to happen now. 🤷

ooh interesting. unsubscribe and perhaps unfollow are likely worth some kind of standardization since both kinds of links exist on the web

Iluad (or lluad?) I created this page to start gathering links to examples of pages with unsubscription links so we can analyze them, their context, etc. toward understanding how best to standardize something https://microformats.org/wiki/unsubscribe-examples

can you add a few example pages you have seen for this in the wild?
