lisp feels like it's the perfect language to make a mf2 parser
#
jacky1
everything is a list
#
ulhar4409
in theory, but the lists in question are mostly singly-linked lists (not contiguous arrays)
#
ulhar4409
arrays also exist and are a little harder to use on the fly

↩️ The format of the page is general intro, some wildcards that leave me guessing, a few short examples that didn’t apply to the feed I was trying to build, and then a wall of text so giant that my head started spinning.

I think you’re right that it could be more useful going forward after I get my sea legs going but I was desperate for a simple getting started tutorial to recreate the super cool demo that Gregor gave about Monocle and it turned out to be one of [capjamesg]'s posts:

Yeah that's not a page designed just for publishers. That's primarily for parser coders
#
[Al_Abut]
Gotcha. I just went to the microformats wiki and started poking around, that was one of the first that came up.

I just had a look at the php-mf2 repo... are there any strong opinions for or against using coding standards and enforcing them? PSR-1 / 2 / 12? I think that makes it easier to contribute!?

I am unfamiliar with those

I think I have a PR against indiewebify which does codesniffer and enforces it. I think it's worth it to ensure code quality and participants agree.
#
gRegor
Sure. Would prefer we sort out the next releases first, though. Need one final one that supports PHP56, then a new release that has whatever the decided minimum version is
#
gRegor
I feel like this comes up every couple months and doesn't go far haha
#
gRegor
(not the PSR thing, that's straightforward)
#
gRegor
Maybe GWG and I can sort out what's easiest for the WordPress plugin dependencies
#

(this weekend at IWC SD)
#
GWG
I don't have strong feelings as I think WordPress caught up on recommendations, but don't want to alienate people
#
GWG
As in, create friction for no good reason
#
GWG
So if our reasons for doing it outweigh that, I'm good
#
gRegor
Of course. I think the basic question is: what min php version do you want to target in the plugins
#
GWG
I moved to 7.4 I think
#
GWG
For my stuff
#
GWG
But tested 8
#
gRegor
Sounds good. I think that's a reasonable min version for php-mf2 0.6.0
#
GWG
Agreed
#
GWG
Gets us many new toys
#
GWG
I can finally eliminate ifset in favor of new operators
#
gRegor
So we can release php-mf2 0.5.1 targeting PHP56 and include any pending merges in that. Then a 0.6.0 with min PHP74
#
GWG
gRegor: I look forward to discussing
#
[artlung]
WP plugins and core and themes have their own code standards
#
GWG
I'm looking forward to finding my next projects.. I've felt paused
#
GWG
[artlung]: Yes
#
GWG
But this isn't WordPress project, but several use it
#
gRegor
Two separate topics, sorry.
#
gRegor
I'm really only focused on next release of php-mf2.
#
gRegor
Adding PSR standard is another topic

Started a draft release of 0.5.1 on github, so not published yet. 20 PRs! 4 new contributors!
