trying to add microformats to my web!! but honestly im still a bit confused on what they do exactly lol.... still trying to slowly get at it tho
#
fafau06
but anyway, assuming i know nothing about webdev, can't i add two classes in one element?

my `<article>` element already got its own class, but apparently i also need to add `class="e-content"` to mark it up as a content? so now my article tag got two classes...

and when i went to validate using indiewebify, it said that i didn't have e-content yet so im a bit confused

fafau06 You can use two classes by separating them with a space, like this: `class="c-1 c-2"`
#
[capjamesg]
If you do `class="c-1" class="c-2"` this will not work as you expect because you can only use the `class` attribute once.

[capjamesg] ++ and that's always bugged me too. Feels like the HTML parser coukd be more forgiving here, eg by merely appending additional instances of an attribute on an element, perhaps with a space. And then handle any attribute specific error handling on attribute value specific parsing.
#
[snarfed]
is SGML/HTML itself specified that way? ie when the same attr is set multiple times, the last one overrides any others?
#
[tantek]
I think one reason that hasn't been done is that in SGML and HTML the attribute order doesn't matter for parsing purposes
#
[tantek]
I’m not sure if it's first or last attribute instance that "wins" [snarfed]. I suspect that may already be specified in the HTML parsing spec

[capjamesg]: ooo okay okay i see!! thankie!

The HTML validator should help catch such things (doubled attributes)

Is anyone other than me receiving the Dependabot vulnerability alerts for the microformats org, or just me? Either way, I fixed the alerts for the tests repo. Feel free to review, or not and I will just merge it in a few days to shut up the alerts ;) https://github.com/microformats/tests/pull/131

Re duplicate attributes: the HTML parsing spec defines the specific "duplicate-attribute" error for it. The behaviour is defined as discarding the duplicates, so first value wins.

Now just waiting for review on Go, release of PHP before I build that refresh, and enough time in my schedule to fix whatever is happening with Ruby.
