# tantek as OpenSocial claimed to be "a founding member" of "the W3C Social Web Working Group" - http://www.w3.org/2014/12/opensocial.html.en
# tantek based on http://www.w3.org/2000/09/dbwg/details?group=72531&public=1 I suppose I am looking for Marum, Matthew or Mertic, John

# jasnell well, personally I'd rather not waste the time on the wg call when we have work items to discuss. the only important part of that press release is that opensocial has ceased operations, has endorsed the work of the social wg, and has donated their remaining resources to support the WG's activities. As of 1/1/2015 there is no more OpenSocial Foundation.
# tantek jasnell - specific question, in which telcon did we review https://www.w3.org/wiki/Socialwg/Social_API/OpenSocial_Activity_Streams_API in the same manner as the other API reviews? (Twitter, Foursquare, Pumpio, Micropub, LDP)

# AnnBassetti James: these Working Drafts have been stable for awhile, thus would like to consider moving to Last Call
# AnnBassetti Tantek: yes, that will be the next step
# AnnBassetti ... having stability on the editor's working draft is important for moving to next steps
# AnnBassetti James: if anyone sees an issue in the spec(s), please raise issue on GitHub, but copy the mailing list
# AnnBassetti ... will ensure James sees it promptly
# AnnBassetti Tantek: anything else on this topic?
# AnnBassetti <no>
# eprodrom q+
# AnnBassetti ... next topic: Microsyntaxes
# AnnBassetti .... Evan's topic?
# AnnBassetti Evan: actually elf's, but happy to speak to it
# AnnBassetti ... issue came up on mailing list
# AnnBassetti ... number of diff systems doing microsyntaxes
# AnnBassetti ... example: with Twitter you put @name to mention a particular user
# AnnBassetti ... Twitter then routes that tweet in a special way
# AnnBassetti ... Facebook, Google do similar, with diff syntaxes
# AnnBassetti ... discussion about how to recognize this
# AnnBassetti ... via our mailing list
# AnnBassetti ... how to handle "magic" symbols
# AnnBassetti ... receiver should not have to do special parsing
# AnnBassetti ... To: and Cc: properties should handle
# AnnBassetti ... perhaps add note in Activity Streams that microsyntax in content for other properties should not have to be parsed by the processor
# AnnBassetti ... will check if there's a github issue; will check
# AnnBassetti Tantek: do you want this to be in the Friday draft?
# AnnBassetti Evan: this wasn't proposed by me ... nice to have by Friday, but not a crisis if added later
# AnnBassetti Tantek: agrees
# AnnBassetti James: I'm the one who started this on mailing list
caseorganic joined the channel
# AnnBassetti ... won't be prob to add by Friday to the spec
# AnnBassetti ... I don't see any normative changes; should be just editorial
# AnnBassetti Evan: agrees
danbri joined the channel
# AnnBassetti Tantek: sounds as if we're resolved on how to handle microsyntax
# AnnBassetti ... any issues, Evan or james?
# AnnBassetti <no>
# AnnBassetti Tantek: last agenda item ... Open Social announcement
# AnnBassetti ... press release issued shortly after last meeting
# AnnBassetti ... want to ensure people are aware of this occurence
# AnnBassetti .... Open Social has formally moved their work to W3C
# eprodrom q+
# AnnBassetti ... and expect this WG, plus the Social Web IG to do any follow-on work
# AnnBassetti James: notes that Press Release raised some issues for some ...
# AnnBassetti ... he cannot speak for <folks active in Open Social>
# AnnBassetti ... believes any add'l resources they had, they donated to W3C and decided to close themselves down
# AnnBassetti ... does not believe there are any implications that this WG would work on anything specific to that work
# AnnBassetti Evan: I wondered, did this announcement mean that we are expected to maintain current or new version of OpenSocial spec?
# AnnBassetti ... worried that this implied we might be taking on a big amount of new work
# AnnBassetti ... appears that OpenSocial gave us their "seal of approval", but without any new charter or additional work
# AnnBassetti ... seems positive
# AnnBassetti Tantek: I agree
# AnnBassetti ... I cited our charter in the announcement for that reason
# AnnBassetti ... maintaining the OpenSocial spec is NOT in our charter; we need to be clear about that
# AnnBassetti ... if anyone thinks we should do that, it needs to be added to our charter
# eprodrom q+
# AnnBassetti ... does anyone think we need to add that to our charter?
# AnnBassetti Harry: we had to keep the announcement secret until announced .. apologizes for no preceding discussion with WG
# AnnBassetti ... no formal obligation
# AnnBassetti ... hope some of them might join this WG
# AnnBassetti Tantek: <confirms accuracy of minutes>
# AnnBassetti Harry: <agrees>
# AnnBassetti Arnaud: no change to the charter, and no one has asked for change to charter
# AnnBassetti ... good news
# AnnBassetti ... Open Social Foundation acknowledged that the "social web" work is happening here, in this W3C WG
# wseltzer still don't know how much that is
# AnnBassetti ... OSF had some $$ left, which they donated to us
# wseltzer q+
# AnnBassetti ... perhaps towards a F2F dinner or some such
# AnnBassetti Evan: re: Harry's point ... wonder if our WG chairs might reach out to former OSF members, inviting them to participate here
# eprodrom We'd want all the Open Social member organizations and their contact people
# AnnBassetti ACTION: jsnell to reach out to Open Social Foundation participants to invite them to join the W3C Social Web WG
# AnnBassetti Wendy: thanks Evan and James for the outreach! good collaboration!
# AnnBassetti ... with "lawyer hat" on, notes W3C has not yet seen the $$
# AnnBassetti ... does not know how much $$ there will actually be
# AnnBassetti ... actual conclusion and transfer is still in work
# AnnBassetti Tantek: notes OpenSocial.org domain name now redirects to one W3C blog post
# AnnBassetti ... wonders if any of the OSF content will be archived and preserved?
# AnnBassetti Sandro: in the past, W3C has occasionally taken on a web site for archival purposes
# AnnBassetti ... not sure if it's appropriate here
# AnnBassetti Ann: what is process to make that happen?
# AnnBassetti Sandro: TimBL thought it was important and got SysTeam to do it
# AnnBassetti Arnaud: thinks this was part of the negotiation
# AnnBassetti ... that they would keep the domain and single page
nicolagreco joined the channel
# tantek for example this document on opensocial.org just redirects to the blog post: http://docs.opensocial.org/display/OSF/OpenSocial+State+of+the+Union+2011+~+May+12%2C+2011
# AnnBassetti Wendy: <said about the domain and single page> .. if this group thinks there is specific content to be saved, we should point it out
# AnnBassetti ... we should identify the crucial content, so W3C can look into it
# AnnBassetti Tantek: modest request: it would be nice if at least blog posts from OSF could be preserved, to be referenced as history
# AnnBassetti ... including permalinks
# AnnBassetti ACTION: jsnell to ask OpenSocial folks about W3C archiving their blog posts
# AnnBassetti ACTION: harry will ask W3C SysTeam about prospect for archiving OSF blog posts and perhaps other content
# AnnBassetti James: other content might be the OSF Twitter account, ...
# AnnBassetti ... right person to ask is Andy Smith, who is my colleague at IBM
# AnnBassetti ... I will liaise with him
# AnnBassetti Tantek: past our closing time .. any thing else?
# AnnBassetti ... end of meeting
# eprodrom Thanks Tantek!
# AnnBassetti ... thanks all!
