aaronpk, rhiaro: journal in Smallest Federated Wiki looks like CRUD AS2.0 feed e.g. http://fed.wiki/welcome-visitors.json?random=e138b679

cwebber2
oh the post activity got removed
#
cwebber2
I wonder what's supposed to replace it
#
cwebber2
create I assume
#
cwebber2
tsyesika: ^^
#
cwebber2
that may change many of our examples
#
tsyesika
they said in the meeting yesterday
#
tsyesika
it was create
#
cwebber2
I missed it
#
tsyesika
i would actually advocate for create being dropped in favour of post but ech i can live with the decision
#
tsyesika
by yesterday i mean tuesday :P
#
tsyesika
cwebber2: you're right some changes do need to occur
#
cwebber2
tsyesika: cool... I figured since I modified my root-beer-note thing in the scheme library I'm hacking on off of activitypump examples, and that Post verb no longer existed :)
#
cwebber2
which I realized on implementing the pseudo-context stuff
#
rhiaro
Create is less ambiguous
#
rhiaro
(ohai)
#
cwebber2
hi rhiaro !
#
rhiaro
Since post is also a noun
#
cwebber2
btw I did figure out how to get around the requirement for full-blown-json-ld which was pretty simple
#
cwebber2
I added a feature where you could drop in a list of "pseudo-contexts", which are really just mappings between uris and short names
#
cwebber2
and it'll check an AS type object thing if its uri is in there (eg for when resolving the @type, or even in reverse when looking up the URI from the short-name) and if not just use the uri
#
cwebber2
simple code
#
edhelas
what are you talking about ?
#
cwebber2
edhelas: an activitystreams scheme library I'm writing
#
edhelas
ok
#
cwebber2
the "how to make the library work without full-on json-ld processing" was something I ran into yesterday
#
edhelas
ok
#
edhelas
what do you think about the XMPP protocol :) ?
#
cwebber2
harry encouraged me to go as far as I can in the library without json-ld processing (which I would need to write myself since guile doesn't have it)
#
cwebber2
edhelas: erm, I like it?
#
cwebber2
why do you ask?
#
edhelas
and the fact that you can do social interactions with it ?
#
edhelas
just curious
#
cwebber2
it's a pretty exciting thing. There are some complexities with using xmpp for federation on web servers. I was really interested in that for some time. But anyway it's not a "web" protocol, so it's outside the scope of this group for consideration anyhow
#
cwebber2
I do think that xmpp is great, and I would like to see more people working on it for social communication stuff, but it's out of scope for this group. That's my summary on it :)
#
edhelas
ok :)

are you still out there, tootling around exotic places?
#

I am indeed, tootling around Croatia :)

very fun to see your travelogue

I have a few more posts queued from today, I'll get those up :)

oshepherd
cwebber2: I think for posting something to your steam in activitypump you should just stick the object in the steam
#
oshepherd
Create can be for e.g. cms I created this page
#
oshepherd
This makes all activities besides share minor, which is great
#
rhiaro
^ I agree with sticking object in stream

Or better yet, get github to support ActivityStreams

hi oshepherd
#
cwebber2
oshepherd: I'm certainly considering the activity-less object route
#
cwebber2
oshepherd: I think some of the ideas will become clearer as I actually play around with the implementation of the thing I'm hacking on :)
