question about the social api brainstorming doc
#
melvster1
when activity pump says receive communication : "get from inbox" ... how does the inbox mark something as read? rhiaro: any ideas?
#
rhiaro
melvster1: I don't remember coming across that, but I'm not an AP expert. tsyesika or cwebber2 might be able to help. AP spec is http://w3c-social.github.io/activitypump/
#
melvster1
thanks
#
melvster1
rhiaro: wow i didnt know activity pump requires https
#
melvster1
and requires data islands
#
melvster1
rhiaro: isnt evan behind activity pump, on the doc is says jessica and owen?
#
rhiaro
activitypump is based on pump.io, which was evan
#
rhiaro
owen started activitypump, jessica picked it up
#
melvster1
ah ha
#
melvster1
rhiaro: so is pump.io going to use activity pump?
#
rhiaro
evan wants to implement what the WG comes out with
#
rhiaro
AP is a candidate, like micropub and SoLiD
#
rhiaro
Hopefully the convergence will be something everyone is happy to implement
#
cwebber2
melvster1: there's no "marked as read", it's up to the client to say "give me all the posts since this post id in my inbox"
#
melvster1
ah ok
#
cwebber2
so basically, the client either asks for X number of recent posts, or X number since this ID
#
cwebber2
though I'm not sure if the activitypump spec says this, I'm pretty sure the pump api does
#
melvster1
cwebber2: so everything for all time remains in the inbox?
#
cwebber2
melvster1: pretty much.
#
melvster1
got it, thanks
#
rhiaro
I don't see inbox as a 'place to remain' so much as just an endpoint to post to
#
rhiaro
but I guess when you GET the inbox you get everything that was ever posted there
#
melvster1
yes we were thinking of implementing inboxes and outboxes too

#
cwebber2
rhiaro: it's usually paged
#
cwebber2
er, paginated
