Does ActivityPub have a client to server handshake to determine common features such as what kind of messages can be shared?
#
sl007
Mo No. This is what makes me so frustrated in the talk for apconf "Come Together Right Now" https://conf.tube/videos/watch/4102f53a-3f91-46c1-bb9b-fb954990f023 - only 2 days ! ⬡ https://conf.activitypub.rocks

sl007: that's a shame. since ActivityPub uses JSON-LD, doing some queries to come to a common ground should not be too hard
#
Mo
sl007: what's frustrating about that talk?
#
sl007
Mo Exactly what you describe. I tried to show examples in the Talk why we need it, e.g. the mastodon<->pleroma example
#
Mo
ah, you're the presenter of the talk and basically answered my question in advance with a video :-)
#
Mo
sl007: so for example does Indigenous work with Redaktor?
#
sl007
Mo, right. Since redaktor will support all Activity- and Object-Types I hope so.

Mo, sorry suddenly fell asleep and offline after watching a terrible Bare-Knuckle fight in US tv over the night. Do you attend https://conf.activitypub.rocks/ - we could just work on specifying it …

sl007: i'm scoping out the possibilities at the moment, dont have the experience with protocols to feel like i could contribute
#
Mo
maybe first study some activitypub code, there's plenty of that already

sl007: when you say ”all Activity- and Object-Types” do you mean all in the core spec or all in the greater community (I have no concept of how many that is)?
#
sl007
Mo, ok I see - If you have any questions there is also the official forum https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks
#
sl007
tinyrabbit In the core spec. It's important to mention that type can be an array like ['Collection', 'https://redaktor.me/data/Map'] - think, the core spec covers all the relevant social interaction / obj. types …
#
sl007
In the example everybody can use it as a Collection but my thing would render it on a Map, extracting all the places …

Neat!
