@blairmacintyre ↩️ I'd love for them to be forced to interoperate.  I have a few Mastodon account, even ran my own instance for a while. @Datatitian The @SocialWebWG has built the standard to decentralization, and @joinmastodon, Pleroma, and others have proven that it works. All that's left is for the FTC to break up the trust that is refusing to implement the interoperability standard in FB, twitter, et c. (twitter.com/_/status/1445037587090087939)

@Datatitian ↩️ It's like if Google blocked all other email providers from delivering to gmail. We'd be forced into using gmail because we don't want to be cut off from our networks. Luckily email, like #ActivityPub, is federated, so we have freedom of choice in our email provider (twitter.com/_/status/1445040662563414017)

@Datatitian ↩️ Honestly, I'm not hopeful we'll get this kind change in the social media era, but I do think we have the opportunity with the #ImmersiveWeb to build it interoperable from the start so that the walled gardens never take hold. That's what @ImmersSpace is - #ActivityPub for #WebXR (twitter.com/_/status/1445063272730869762)
