There is still this hole in blogging tools that I find strange -- something database-driven that publishes a static site. You either have SSGs that build from the filesystem or database, or totally database-driven sites. There's not much that gives you a database-driven editing environment that then publishes a static site. And then all of the

I looked around to see if any of the popular SSGs had some sort of abstraction for finding the content so you could plug in a database backend, and didn't find anything.

History mode fixes Webmentions and the SEO issues but doesn’t work on GitHub Pages. There might be a hack using a 404.html page, but I’d hate to resort to a hack....
