[@QueerMatters] I did a lil #blog post about #programming and #technoableism : https://thinkymeat.neocities.org/posts/developers-and-technoableism/ #ableism #disabled #blog #indieweb #developers (https://mstdn.social/@QueerMatters/115619218739489879)

^ pretty good post written in a very informal and raw "blog" tone of voice. Though labeled a rant, lots of thoughtful and empathetic bits inside

[Al_Abut]
Agreed, that was a good read. I’ve never heard of misusing alt text for programmatic reasons, that’s infuriating.

[@Mornixu_Bane] Well, I had #Drupal running on my #Yunohost server, I had the #IndieWeb and related modules installed, and then, I just *had* to activate HTTP authentication 🫠 Bye bye website, I'll bring you back tomorrow 🥲 (https://mastodon.social/@Mornixu_Bane/115619320441084809)

[Al_Abut] it's an unfortunate developer pattern. Mastodon abusing "summary" for "Content Warning" for example
#
[tantek]
(Thus ruining proper use of AP/AS2 "summary" for everyone else)
#
[tantek]
Also somewhat a corner you paint yourself into (as a dev) by using Markdown as your "data model". Now you're stuck with the constraints of Markdown so when you need to add a feature (image sizes) you're tempted to abuse whatever seemingly unused "slot" it has nearby
#
[Al_Abut]
Super unfortunate to hear that pattern but I guess it’s not surprising now that I know, given human nature b
#
[Al_Abut]
You see so many flavors of markdown that I figured the extensibility is built in or done properly. Then again I never lifted the hood and flashed a light.
#
[tantek]
Markdown is generally very rigid and NOT extensible, that's exactly why there are so many forks/flavors
#
[tantek]
It's one of the challenges that I'm very acutely aware of as I gradually design and implement my replacement.
#
[tantek]
Extensibility in plain text is very challenging
#
[Al_Abut]
You’re designing a replacement for… markdown? Because the grammar makes it sound like you could also be building a replacement Tantek 🤖
#
[tantek]
Yes a replacement for Markdown that actually sticks the primary design goal instead of abandoning it when things got hard.

[@desiree] I've been planning to share what media I'm into on a monthly basis for a long time now, but today I finally woke up inspired to do it. #blog #indieweb https://www.digitalprairie.blog/picks-of-the-month-november-2025/ (https://indieweb.social/@desiree/115622846420190749)

[@yahoo] Another batch of Mastodon instances where the tech is strong and the terminals run deep. Adding a few more instances to the curated list of active Fediverse IT/tech/dev communities I bumped into recently:... (https://techhub.social/@yahoo/115623951552455928)

[@chewie] @peach Have you tried following the #IndieWeb hashtag? There's some interesting stuff going on there. (https://mammut.gogreenit.net/@chewie/115624074630446655)

I wonder if that's the same David Peach at the top of https://indieweb.org/lost_sites#IndieWeb_Examples
