miklb, how was it?
#
[miklb]
worked as planned. No title is greatly appreciated.
#
GWG
I had to compromise and put it below the content box to make people happy
#
[miklb]
location wasn’t my concern, autofilling was. I do appreciate you changing that.

On trying Post Kinds 2.8.0 I’m getting this error on some posts…
#
[stefp]
Recoverable fatal error: Object of class WP_Post could not be converted to string in …/wp-content/plugins/indieweb-post-kinds/views/kind-photo.php on line 29

hey GWG which WP Plugin does POSSE?
[miklb] joined the channel
#
[miklb]
I think there are a couple. The Bridgy plugin from GWG is one. Jetpack also does some syndication.
#
GWG
I will fix the development issue tonight
#
GWG
Hundreds of them
#
GWG
SNAP is popular
#
tantek
GWG, I mean, any that *we* maintain or even recommend
#
[miklb]
there are no community plugins for POSSE. The bridgy plugin is GWG’s, which is close. I do not think any of the other plugin devs with syndication plugins are active inside the IW community.
#
GWG
The Bridgy Plugin, but it is just a UI to Bridgy Publish
#
GWG
So, not a full POSSE plugin
#
GWG
I have thought about doing my own Twitter plugin. The API looks easy enough, but not motivated enough
#
[miklb]
not sure the difference between “full POSSE” and bridgy to be honest
#
tantek
[miklb]: here is a key stark difference: whose code calls the Twitter API. Your site (via a plugin), or Bridgy's server
#
tantek
in particular this: "Do not (and do not allow your users to) simultaneously post identical or substantially similar content to multiple accounts."
#
tantek
so if you did that from your server, e.g. with a plugin that lets you POSSE to multiple Twitter accounts simultaneously, your server (and Twitter app IDs etc.) might get banned by Twitter
#
[miklb]
sure. That’s spam IMO
#
[miklb]
I would banned someone for doing the same thing.
#
[miklb]
s/banned/ban/
#
tantek
pretty sure some view it as "marketing"
#
[miklb]
I would love to have that discussion with those people
#
tantek
[miklb] I'm pretty sure both the Known POSSE ui and Quill have the ability to show and POSSE to multipe Twitter accounts
#
tantek
thus multiple #indieweb folks have found an itch (or market demand?) for multi-account POSSEing
#
tantek
I don't know their reasons
#
[miklb]
Micropub allows for multiple syndication targets, so in that case, it can be abused, but I’m not so sure that Quill itself allows for multiple Twitter accounts. I have no experience with Known.
#
[miklb]
I certainly would love to hear a rational argument for posting the exact same thing all at the same time to multiple Twitter accounts as “marketing”
#
tantek
discussing Quill now in #indieweb-dev
#
tantek
er, [#dev] :)
#
GWG
I think tantek got my meaning
#
GWG
miklb, how is the New design working for you otherwise?
#
[miklb]
It’s good. I personally didn’t have issue with the previous design. I dragged it just below the content box and hid some other metaboxes so it was conveniently located for me. But I’m a long time user of custom meta boxes in the WP admin, so it feels more natural to me that perhaps a new user or someone not familiar with custom post types/content metaboxes

my spare time has been spent trying to get my food blog up. I’m getting closer. Maybe I’ll shoot for next Monday, as that’s the anniversary of buying my domain
#
GWG
That was what I was going for

I am trying to decide what I need to accomplish before release
