Which is the best IndieWeb starter theme, my son has asked me to make him a blog so he can document our upcoming holiday.

From memory, the Twenty Sixteen IndieWeb theme on Github is the way to go.

pfefferle: My specific use case was this: I receive a webmention via Bridgy, since the tweet accompanying my post got a reply. This get posted back to my blog, and I get a request for moderation. I go into admin, approve, and then want to reply directly. Within admin panel, that will only post a native comment. Would need to check out what this would look like if I replied via the comment form while viewing the

post itself. But eve then, I think a reply to a tweet would only work if it went through Bridgy as well, as gwg said.

yes @marcoZDE that won't accomplish what you want, you need to approve the comment, then clic link to twitter.com, copy the url, do a new reply post, enter the twitter url in the response properties box, and then publish
#
[jgmac1106]
If you use Bridgy the twitter thread will stay alive and youe new post will thread as a comment on the original post

[matpacker], yes SemPress or 2016-IndieWeb, SemPress is inthe wordpress.org repo so it makes updating easier for your son

I add a page builder to mine, you may want to think about using micro.blog (turn key) or Known (need to install from GitHub)

GWG MarcoZDE if brid.gy supports webmentions it will work... How webmentions for comments for: you receive a Webmention on one of you blogposts, you answer via the native comment frontend, the Webmention plugin sends a Webmention to the origin of the comment you commented on... and this also works on the other side... see https://notiz.blog/2015/12/07/10-jahre-notizblog/#comment-737676

but that's not how bridgy works

[pfefferle] is right though [dougbeal] and @gwg are looking into seeing what it would take for native reply comments to work as syndicated replies as well...while sounds amazing not sure worth the effort,...though I don't use screen reader and don't how hard the current workflow is for our blind friends like @marcozde

Sknebel [jgmac1106] but I thought that is how brid.gy publish works...
#
sknebel
[pfefferle] I was maybe a bit glib/short: it needs the special link to bridgy and a webmention to it, it doesn't automatically trigger on a reply
#
sknebel
so it uses webmentions, but a simple reply without any changes won't have that link to trigger it
#
[pfefferle]
If brid.gy would provide a Webmention endpoint for brid.gy comments, it would work
#
[pfefferle]
[snarfed] is it possible to combine brid.gy and brid.gy publish like that?

Sknebel [jgmac1106] the Webmention plugin handles every comment like a post, provides a permalinks, and tries to send webmentions to the endpoint, provided by the source url... so it might be only a simple little change in brid.gy ?!?

Loqi needs to just have a bridgy trigger that shares [snarfed]'s post on keep Bridgy publish dumb....but it would be really cool, nock like three steps out of the workflow which has to help folks using screenreaders
#
sknebel
the keeping bridgy publish dumb post is about other aspects though
#
sknebel
the bigger thing is probably that a post should not be marked as a reply to a bridgy url

Sknebel for posts yes, but for comments it doesn‘t matter, because it never displays the brid.gy URL
#
sknebel
it does matter for anything else consuming the markup

e.g. readers
