[asuh] kinds.svg, which I assume is what you’re testing, is ~22KB. I’d say that’s a good user case for the sprite. Syndication Links is >600KB, so this is where the major difference will be noticed

GWG [asuh]: If you look at my test site, it is now using inline svg instead of a sprite. And if it fails, it shows no icon at all.

GWG [asuh]: No. But the last time I tried file_get_contents, someone's hosting provider forbid it

[asuh] GWG: I’m happy to test on multiple hosting accounts to see if I run into the same issue. That might be common but it also might be an issue on the host. We can figure out a good PHP or JS fallback just in case

GWG In the Micropub plugin, it stores it in the post meta

GWG They currently aren't in use, but they should work.
