#Loqi[dshanske] indieweb-publisher: Fork of Independent Publisher with Backported Fixes and Better Indieweb Compatibility (Not yet ready for primetime)
#[jgmac1106]I sent link. Readme says not ready for prime time... You should either remove if no longer true (yeah) or add disclaimer in post.... But Congrats... 8 know you worked so hard on it
jgmac1106, [Coty_Beasley], [cleverdevil], tbbrown, [tmiller], aleshark, [manton], Drekary, [Rose], [eddie], [jeremycherfas], Guest25732, [tantek], tantek, [Vincent] and [adam] joined the channel; aleshark and Drekary left the channel
#GWGI need to figure out what to do next that isn't just some minor fixes...a new feature to implement
#GWGI have to update my list and priorities I guess
jgmac1106 joined the channel
#jgmac1106has anyone ever tried what happens when you just install the webmentions plugin? Doing it on WordPress.com with Brid.gy has been working adaquetly well for our needs
#jgmac1106was thinking should it be brid.gy for non indieweb wordpress.org themes and people who just want webmentions or the plugin?
[jgmac1106], jgmac1106, [kevinmarks], metbril, [Vincent] and [pfefferle] joined the channel
#[pfefferle]The Webmention plugin is build to work independent, but if you have plan, that allows installing plugins, why not also install the semantic linkbacks plugin?
#[jgmac1106]I figured semantic linkbacks would break more without mf2
#[jgmac1106]so far just having Bridgy webmentions on WordPress.com to WordPress.com works well enough...wanted to knwo what the WP.org equivalent would be
#[jgmac1106]no post kinds or post types, just minimal replies back and forth since -u-in-reply-to can be anywhere on the page
#sknebelyou found an mf2 theme on wp.com? (so u-in-reply-to works)
#[jgmac1106]no, haven't tested the theme just using bridgy on any wp.com for just replies works "well enough"
#[jgmac1106]my students get mention of either a comment or a pinback and can display if they want
#[jgmac1106]going to test the themes you recommended maybe today or tomorrow
#[pfefferle]and that is why it falls back the “mention” display
#[jgmac1106]I will ask for volunteers to see what happens
#[pfefferle]so sorry sknebel, your point is also valid
#sknebelthx, got a better idea of what it does now
#[jgmac1106]I will manually have people put in u-in-reply-to
#sknebelif you don't have mf2 that doesn't do anything
#[jgmac1106]we need to test because when they don't do it and have bridgy it comes as a pingback when they do it and have bridgy it comes as a comment
#[jgmac1106]wouldn't the u-in-reply-to be nested in the the old hentry and then be picked up through back compat...it is working some
#sknebelno, backcompat doesn'T pick up mf2 properties on mf1 objects
#[jgmac1106]but if I am having them do it for no reason happy to tell them to stop, if they have bridgy installed then just dropping in the link will get same effect?
#sknebelif you say something is different between the two I'd love to see examples to at least understand why there's a difference
#[pfefferle]not really different, but mf1 has not really a granular linking type like what we defined in mf2 with “u-*”
#[pfefferle]so the SL plugin can parse the content and author correctly, but can’t categorize the response in “reply”, “like”, “…” and so it falls back to mention…
#[pfefferle]and the mention is displayed as “was mentioned on X”
#[pfefferle]I can add settings to show the content instead, but this can get noisy…
#sknebelyeah, I know different people have different feelings about what's the best there
#[jgmac1106]sknebe l will grab a couple students next week, and see why some end up as pingbacks and others as comments
