# [Will_Monroe] Hello, has anyone read or written a tutorial the explains how to configure the Indigenous desktop app? I have a successful configuration on Android using Aperture as a Microsub server on my WordPress site. Not completely sure how to discern which of the "Endpoints" listed in my Android app are the Post endpoint or Reader endpoint (even though I seem to have the Media endpoint).

# [Will_Monroe] [dshanske] this is what Indigenous Desktop is asking for: https://www.screencast.com/t/VzxGQmmqA
# [Will_Monroe] I can share my settings in the Indigenous Android account. Everything seems to work there. I can read, like, post original notes without any issues.
# [Will_Monroe] [dshanske] Yes, I think so. I have successfully set up Aperture. And I can read/like/post/etc on Indigenous for Android and on Monocle and Together. But the config for Indigenous for Desktop is a little opaque to me.

# [arush] Hi all.
# [Will_Monroe] Thanks [dshanske]! I sent my Indigenous for Android endpoints--which seem to be working perfectly--via private chat. Wasn't sure I should share those here or not. The Android client works well. No effort required after setting up a Microsub server and providing my domain. But the Indigenous Desktop client is a little less clear to me. Not sure which of the several "endpoint" values I should enter into the given
# [Will_Monroe] fields in the screenshot I provided.
# [arush] Wait there's an indigenous desktop client? Does it work on Windows??
# [Will_Monroe] [arush] Yes, there is! And I'm using the Windows version. But I haven't gotten it to work with my own domain and microsub server yet. However, the demo microsub server that the developers provide does seem to work as a reader.
# [arush] Your indieauth and everything else is working all right? I think microsub relies on that, or at least relMe links. I haven't set it up on the migrated version of my site yet but did have it working on the previous host.
# [arush] Also, a couple heads-ups regarding Foursquare//Swarm and checkins, or at least importing them. Foursquare appears to be acting like a little brat when it comes to exporting your data. I've been fighting with them for the last two weeks trying to get an archive and pretty much getting no answer of any kind, except not-monitored autoreplies. If you try to import with OwnYourSwarm, it'll import something like 200 copies per checkin
# [arush] on at least this WordPress site, so you might want to set your micropub to draft by default while you clear out the duplicates.
# [Will_Monroe] [arush] yes, my indieauth on my WP site seem to check out. At least, they work on the Indigenous for Android client.
# [Will_Monroe] I apologize for my clumsy description of these technologies. I'm still having to rehearse how they all fit together when I run into problems.
# [arush] [Will_Monroe] No biggy. This stuff can get tricky when you're putting it all together ans stuff goes wrong.
# [arush] Are you hosting on your own, like a shared server or VPS, or are you using a maanaged WordPress host?? I'm asking about managed because I've found that managed is great if you're using mainstream stuff, but it can get flaky with some of this, especially indieauth, and their support won't be able to help you much because they're not familiar with any of this.
# [Will_Monroe] [arush] I'm using Reclaim Hosting, which has been a terrific hosting service to work with. However, I have experienced some problems with some indie web and adjacent technologies that I've tried to troubleshoot you and seeing difficulties because of the requirements that a managed host has. For example, Bridgy wasn't working properly and the issue ended up being a bit of a problem for the hosting service so I just gave up
# [Will_Monroe] on that particular technology.
# [Will_Monroe] In this particular case with the indigenous desktop client, if I simply had a better understanding of the various endpoints that seem to be advertised in the Android client I could probably troubleshoot the desktop client more effectively.

# [Will_Monroe] [dshanske] I think you may be right about that. In that first screenshot I shared there is a text box for a token. But I just don't know where that token comes from exactly.
# [Will_Monroe] [dshanske] thank you! As soon as I get back to my computer I'm going to give this a try and report back.
