# [Ed_Beck] I’m running WordPress 5.8.1 using the Astra theme on ed-beck.com. I have the IndieWeb plugin and the Webmention plugins enabled.
# [Ed_Beck] However, when I try to connect twitter via brid.gy I get this error: “_You need webmention support. Here are some resources. If you’re on WordPress, try the IndieWeb bundle plugin. If you’re on Blogger, Tumblr, or WordPress.com, sign up here!_”
# [Ed_Beck] Are there any troubleshooting steps I should try?
# [Ed_Beck] https://ed-beck.com/projects/
# [Ed_Beck] I think…
# [Ed_Beck] I thought I would just try to make anything work first, and then eventually create a category that I would POSSE, so I could just use the category feed.
# [chrisaldrich] I was going to say that I didn't see a header there either...
# [Ed_Beck] the projects page is my default wordpress blog page.
# [chrisaldrich] Just to double check by "blog" page you mean that the /projects page is both your home page as well as the page to which new posts are added in reverse chronological order? (The home page and the "blog" page can potentially be two different things.)
# [Ed_Beck] I have my homepage set as a static page, and then I have a seperate page ed-beck.com/projects that is set as my blog page?
# [Ed_Beck] Is that a problem?
# [chrisaldrich] That should be fine Ed... I was confused by the conflation of "projects" with "blog" and GWGs mention about category pages.
# [Ed_Beck] I don’t need to make my life more difficult. What’s the most straightforward setup?
# [chrisaldrich] I've sorted of wanted something like that in the past GWG, but at the end of the day I'd end up having/wanting to manually reassign them to some other page somewhere.
# [chrisaldrich] [Ed_Beck] From what I see, it appears that you're set up, but you'd be better off testing a standalone post page like https://ed-beck.com/open-educational-resources/open-pedagogy/tips-for-creating-with-wordpress/
# [chrisaldrich] That page will have the correct header that Brid.gy would expect. Though for home page webmentions you might want to change that setting to a discrete page rather than an "archive" or "blog" page. An about page might make sense. In my case I created a specific "mentions" page: https://boffosocko.com/mentions/
# [chrisaldrich] apparently the mark up on that page is dreadful....
# [chrisaldrich] GWG sending webmentions to archive pages could go to the generic homepage webmentions page (or the one set for it). Looks like it might be useful to check/ensure that people aren't setting that to the "blog" or other "archive" type pages though.
# [chrisaldrich] It is definitely an edge case...
