[dshanske] do you use the class Bridgy_Config in different plugins without namespaces?

[snarfed] Hello! I am trying to update a FedBridgy Mastodon post and the post isn’t updating. I think I am following the help instructions for it below. When you say send another webmention, what does that mean? Does it mean click the WordPress Update button, or does it mean check the Bridgy Fed checkbox under Syndicate to and then click Update? Or maybe something I don’t know. :-)

[TMichelleMoore]
“How do I edit an existing post?
#
[TMichelleMoore]
Edit the post on your web site, then send another webmention to Bridgy Fed for it. Bridgy Fed will refetch the post and send an Update activity for it to the fediverse.”
#
GWG
[pfefferle]: I deprecated it so no
#
GWG
You'd have to check the box because I don't resend to Bridgy on update
#
[TMichelleMoore]
@gwg For the first publish, do I check the box and include the link?
#
GWG
Yes, I believe so. I have to release that update that was hiding Fed though
#
[TMichelleMoore]
@gwg And then when I want to update, I just edit the same post and then make sure the BridyFed checkbox is checked and it should update on Mastodon right?
#
GWG
Assuming Fed supports updates, yes
#
[TMichelleMoore]
Thank you @gwg! It doesn’t seem to be working but I will test to make sure I am seeing what I think I am seeing.
#
GWG
Bridgy doesn't support updates, so I assumed Fed didn't, but that is a [snarfed] question
#
[TMichelleMoore]
So one more question @gwg, just to make sure I am tracking: I do need to include the link, , on the page right?
#
GWG
That should be done by Syndication Links
#
GWG
So you don't have to
#
GWG
Although I should take [snarfed]'s advice and launch a test site for Fed
#
[TMichelleMoore]
OK, I will test that out also. Thank you @gwg!
#
[pfefferle]
[dshanske] but why the error?
#
GWG
Which error?

I don't have a class named Bridgy_Config in anything but the Bridgy Publish plugin, but Syndication Links has a trait by that name.
#
GWG
I forgot I named a trait that. I can preface that. Where is it hitting?
#
GWG
I was rewriting that section anyway at [snarfed]'s suggestion
#
[pfefferle]
I added a screenshot, but I think this is only visible in slack
#
GWG
I'll pull Slack
#
[pfefferle]
"Fatal error: Cannon declare trait Bridgy_config, because the name is already in use..."
#
GWG
[pfefferle]: What else has a class named that?
#
GWG
Either way, I will preface that better. I didn't realize traits and classes shared a namespace. Wasn't thinking about that

I have no idea! I have only forwarded this issue
#
[pfefferle]
Happend to a colleague
#
GWG
[pfefferle]: Hope they didn't still have the old Bridgy Publish plugin I got rid of installed.
#
[pfefferle]
Could be!
#
GWG
But the trait includes the setting for linking back in the content and ignoring formatting. The link back option I'm going to implement locally for Micropub, so that will be gone. So, the trait may not serve a purpose, so I may just get rid of it entirely.
#
GWG
Thus solving the problem
#
[pfefferle]
Maybe also showing an information to deinstall deprecated plugins?
#
GWG
I'll see about adding a warning.
