GWG, Are you still considering making Post Kinds compatible with blocks?
#
GWG
Sort of
#

I'm an Indieblocks user, and I'd be interested in seeing how Post Kinds could be compatible with that. The dev behind Indieblocks doesn't seem personally interested in supporting more "kinds": https://indieweb.social/@janboddez/112101549869449187
#
GWG
I'd like to find a compromise
#

Are your ideas something that could be written into a GitHub issue? Or are they looser than even that right now?
#
nsmsn
I was just catching up on the IndieWeb WordPress chat today and your note on this piqued my interest.

I have an idea of how Post Kinds could/should work, as a Gutenberg user...not sure if this has been discussed extensively here or anywhere already.
#
GWG
Most of my ideas are on the backend of how it could work.
#
GWG
But yes, I could write it up
#
GWG
Essentially, there are two parts to Post Kinds
#
GWG
1. Parse This, which could be used by Indieblocks or anything. I use it in other projects
#
GWG
2. The Kind taxonomy and how it maps mf2 properties to the taxonomy and vice versa.
#
GWG
You could add a third...the templating, but blocks would replace that
#
GWG
Parse This has a rest API endpoint
#
GWG
Kind only has some limited taxonomy endpoint stuff, it needs more improvements to work neatly with that system
#
GWG
So, if I make the Kind functionality in the rest api fully consistent with how it works under the hood, then the front end part with blocks should be easier.

OK, I follow…thanks for sharing your thought process.
#
GWG
I may not be the best at JS coding, but I can set up to make the frontend stuff easier if someone partnered with me
#
nsmsn
I can’t volunteer myself for that role, but if I can help with testing or anything, let me know!
#
GWG
I would probably start smaller

Maybe Simple Location for Gutenberg

And a few other things

[snarfed]: If it was server side and not client side scripting I might be there already
