[Joe_Crawford] I'm a self-hoster. Fully aware of all of the above. It's a fine reminder of why I *never* recommend WordPress dot com as a solution to folks. There are many other better solutions to the "if I want to run WordPress, where?" question.

[Joe_Crawford] Was going to recommend [mattl] add webmention plugin, thinking that as a blessed official plugin it would be available to his libre fm blog. But I'd then be suggesting he pony up $300/year to get webmentions, which would be dumb indeed.
