[pfefferle] it is very hard to run with PHP and I do not think that it is possible to run on shared hosting

JohnBeales Ok, I figured the AT protocol might be harder to interact with than Activitypub - especially with the WordPress limitations that it should work with any WP install, including shared hosting.
