I thought about this a lot: How should we deal with ClassicPress in the long run!?
#
[pfefferle]
ClassicPress has problems (or do this on purpose) to keep up with the latest changes in WordPress
#
[pfefferle]
The Html_Parser for example and the custom comment type feature that might land in WordPress 7.2
#
[pfefferle]
It makes it harder and harder to use new features that comes with WordPress if we want to be compatible with ClassicPress!?

Ideally I would hope that the IndieWeb plugins would be forked and kept compatible. As it is, I use a plugin on my ClassicPress sites that blocks auto-updating of plugins.

isn't that frustrating and a bit risky?

always a tradeoff between security and user control/stability, eg if they change or remove features you depend on. but yeah not upgrading is generally a less secure posture overall

I think it is not removing features, but not implementing them.
