willnorris bret: but they have fundamentally different approaches anyway... an alternate machine readable format (rss/atom) vs embedding machine readable tags into the existing format (microformats). So even if the timeline were different, I would suspect both would have emerged... they just come from different schools of thought (my thoughts anyway)
