reedstrm well, that's your call. My experience is that my postgresql dbs take essentially no maintenance, other than making sure I don't acutally run out of disk space. Even then, it's stop, add more space, start, and it auto recovers. Now, the mysql db backing my home DVR, on the other hand ... I won't start :-)
