bret the the type of diff is really decided by the target... which knows what it represents to some degree... i.e. received a wm with a diff in it... I am a git repo.. therefore this can only be a git patch diff... or this is a diff.. I'm a note, so this can only be some kind of prose diff... apply if approved and valid format
