tantek aside, I took a look at GTFS ( https://github.com/OpenTransport/vocabulary/blob/master/gtfs/spec.md ) and it looks horribly overcomplicated overdesigned - I'd stay far away from that if I were trying to implement any kind of practical user feature in any reasonable amount of time.
