tantek going to try an experiment with the events page, I think originally requested by crystal. since we already have a heading for the year (2016), dropping 2016 from the visible dates of the events to see if that makes them more readable (sorry Europeans, most signficant digit first is the right thing for maths & numbers of all kinds)
