gRegorLove: What is new in the world of your website?
#
gRegorLove
Not much on my site other than a 2016 recap post of sorts. And soon to be writing 100 words a day.
#
GWG
What do you want to do?
#
gRegorLove
At the moment I'm working on an open source project for a dead man's switch. Automatically send a message you specify to people if you don't check in after X period of time.

What is manual until it hurts?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "manual until it hurts" yet. Would you like to create it?
#
chrisaldrich
I remember a few people having this conversation the other day. How did they not create a page for it?
#
KevinMarks_
manual until it hurts is an indieweb principle of resisting automation until you have done it enough times to really understand it, and know that it is worth doing
#
snarfed
is embarrassed to have coined that

There is also the lean start-up thing of doing stuff that doesn't scale

When I show webmention comments updating in real time, then explain how many computers were involved, it is like Penn and Teller doing their Blast Off trick

good morning all - i would suggest tagging new releases for the new year on various indieweb libraries, a lot of them haven't been tagged since June even tho there are some new commtis
#
voxpelli
hongpong: that sounds odd, maybe add an issue on the projects you think should have a release and ask for one?
#
GWG
I have been making the rounds on my projects and doing bug fixes and minor updates this month. Webmention and Semantic Linkbacks had an update on their stable repository this weekend, the latter the first time in a year.

what is h-feed
#
Loqi
h-feed is a microformats2 experiment with a top level feed object to contain h-entry posts https://indieweb.org/h-feed

#

hmm. not sure how to check my h-feed. My atom feed is validating
#
aaronpk
try subscribing to it in woodwind?
#
miklb__
what is woodwind
#
Loqi
Woodwind is a minimalist open source indie reader by https://kylewm.com/photo.jpgKyle Mahan https://indieweb.org/Woodwind
#
aaronpk
sounds like we need an h-feed validator
#
miklb
aaronpk probably, this page https://indieweb.org/feed#How_To_Test doesn't address h-feed directly.
#
miklb
and woodwind is down
#
aaronpk
oh no really
#
petermolnar
the root item should be a h-feed with the items as children
#
aaronpk
yeah parsing is one thing, but interpreting the results of that is another. that's why the validator would be useful
#
aaronpk
oh dear. looks like you're missing h-entry on the individual items?
#
miklb
^*&#$*&#)($* WordPress
#
aaronpk
ah it's all the little notes
#
miklb
wtf is h-as-article?
snarfed joined the channel
#
aaronpk
you have a bunch of <article> tags with mf2 properties inside, but because the <article> doesn't have h-entry, those properties end up looking like they're part of the top-level h-feed
#
petermolnar
miklb h-feed is an aggragator for h-entries

aggregator
snarfed and ncollig joined the channel
#
aaronpk
yep but still missing a few things. there's no url property on any of the h-entrys so a reader won't know where to send the person to read the post. a bunch of the top ones are missing published dates too.
#
aaronpk
is trying to imagine writing a validator for this
